The session will emphasize international solidarity, showing how domestic and global struggles for liberation are interconnected.

  • Teaching for Liberation: Equipping Educators for Social Justice

    This course is designed to equip educators and facilitators with the tools and strategies needed to foster social justice and equity within their learning environments. Participants will explore the core principles of anti-oppressive education and learn how to challenge systemic inequalities in their teaching practices. The course emphasizes transformative education, helping educators empower students to critically engage with the world, develop a sense of agency, and contribute to social change.

  • Equitable Grading Practices Using an Abolitionist Lens

    In this course, educators will learn how to design grading systems that are fair, inclusive, and centered on students' growth and success. Drawing on abolitionist teaching principles, participants will examine how traditional grading systems can reinforce biases and limit students' potential. Through practical strategies educators will explore ways to create a grading system that prioritizes equity, values progress, and supports diverse learning styles and needs.

  • Emotional Wellbeing and Trauma-Responsive Teaching

    This course focuses on the essential role of emotional wellbeing in creating a safe, supportive, and trauma-sensitive classroom environment. Participants will explore strategies to promote emotional intelligence, build trust, and cultivate a sense of community, helping students feel seen, heard, and valued. The course provides practical tools for recognizing and responding to trauma, fostering resilience, and prioritizing healing.

  • Poetry for Liberation

    This creative session explores the role of poetry in social and political movements. Participants will use poetry as a medium for personal expression and resistance, inspired by the works of radical Black poets like Audre Lorde, Langston Hughes, and Sonia Sanchez. The workshop encourages participants to find their voice in the struggle for justice and liberation.

  • Combatting Liberalism Through Decolonization

    This session examines the shortcomings of liberalism in addressing systemic oppression. It explores how incremental reforms often fail to dismantle the root causes of racial, economic, and social inequalities, and advocates for more radical, transformative solutions that go beyond reformist approaches. This workshop challenges popular ideas that frame decolonization as a metaphor. Participants will explore the deeper meaning of decolonization, which includes political, and economic autonomy, and emphasize the necessity of material change over symbolic gestures.

  • Coffee Ceremony: Intentional Meetings

    This workshop introduces the Ethiopian coffee ceremony as a culturally rich and intentional way to hold meetings, reflect, and set meaningful goals and action items. Participants will learn how to incorporate the core principles of this ceremony—community, care, and reflection—into their own meetings and workshops. The course emphasizes creating a space that fosters relationship-building, where participants can co-create and contribute to meetings through collaboration, creativity, and of course coffee!!
